Yes. BlitzGammon is fully responsive and works on any smartphone or tablet browser. We also have an Android app available. For iOS, you can open blitzgammon.com in Safari and tap Share → Add to Home Screen for a fullscreen app-like experience.
Gameplay
From the lobby, choose your game type: Host a Game (custom settings), Rating Game (ELO-ranked), Coin Game (play for virtual coins), or Play a Friend (private invite). You can also join games hosted by other players from the Live Games section.
Absolutely. BlitzGammon uses cryptographic random number generation (CSPRNG) for all dice rolls. The outcome of each roll is statistically independent and cannot be predicted or influenced. This is the same standard used in online poker and casino software.
The doubling cube is a standard backgammon element that allows players to propose doubling the stakes of a game. When offered a double, your opponent can accept (and the game value doubles) or decline (and concede the current game value). Mastering cube decisions is one of the most important skills in backgammon.
If you disconnect, your game clock continues to run. If you do not reconnect within the time allowed by the match clock, the game may be forfeited. We recommend playing on a stable connection. Reconnecting will resume the game from the current position.
BlitzGammon uses the Bronstein timing system for matches. Each player has a set amount of thinking time per move, and a small amount of time is added back after each move (up to the starting amount). This keeps games moving at a fair pace without severely penalising thoughtful play.
ELO Ratings & Leaderboard
ELO is a rating system used to measure the relative skill level of players. When you win a rated match, your ELO goes up; when you lose, it goes down. The amount it changes depends on the rating difference between you and your opponent — beating a higher-rated opponent earns more points, while losing to a lower-rated opponent costs more. All new players start at 1500 ELO.
Only Rating Games affect your ELO. Coin Games, AI games, casual practice, and tournament games (unless specifically marked as ELO-affecting) do not change your rating. Your ELO has a floor of 1000 and will not drop below that.
The leaderboard ranks players by ELO rating. Players with the same ELO are ranked by number of rated games played. The leaderboard updates in real time after each rated match.
Tournaments
Tournaments are organised events with a fixed format (single elimination, double elimination, or Swiss). Players register before the start time, and matches are auto-generated based on the bracket. Each match is played directly in the platform. Results update the bracket in real time and prizes are awarded at the end.
The Weekly Freeroll is a free-to-enter tournament that runs every week. There is no entry fee. The prize pool is funded by a portion of the house rake from Coin Games played during the week. All registered users can participate.
Tournament prizes are awarded in virtual Coins, which have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for real currency. They can be used to enter Coin Games and other paid features within the platform.
Yes — Tournament Director membership gives you the tools to create and manage your own tournaments, set entry fees (in virtual Coins), choose the format, and invite players. You can run club-specific tournaments or open them to the general player pool.
Analysis & AI
After a match is completed, BlitzGammon automatically analyses every move using a world-class AI engine. The analysis shows you the best move for each position, your error rate, equity swings, cube decision quality, and your Performance Rating (PR). Lower PR is better.
BlitzGammon's AI runs at a world-class level that will challenge even experienced players. AI games are available for free users up to a limited match length, with extended matches available on Premium plans.
Analysis typically completes within a few minutes of your match ending. You will see the status on the Match Results page. If a game ended without any moves being played (e.g. a no-show), analysis will not be available for that game.
Account & Billing
Go to your Profile page and look for the security settings, or use the Forgot Password link on the login page to reset your password via email.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Membership page. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period and you will not be charged again after that.
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment provider. BlitzGammon never stores your card number or payment details on our servers.
Please contact us via our Contact page and request account deletion. We will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe. Note that anonymised game records may be retained to preserve the integrity of historical leaderboard data.
BlitzGammon is operated by BLITZ GAMMON ONLINE GAMING SERVICES - L.L.C - S.P.C, a duly registered limited liability company.
