Basic Backgammon Rules
Movement
Players take turns rolling two dice and moving their checkers accordingly. Each die represents a separate move, and you can move one checker the total of both dice, or two different checkers using one die each. Doubles allow you to move four times instead of two.
Hitting & The Bar
Landing on a point with a single opponent checker sends that checker to the bar. Checkers on the bar must re-enter from the opponent's home board before any other moves can be made. Building points with two or more checkers protects them from being hit.
Bearing Off
Once all fifteen of your checkers are in your home board, you can begin bearing them off. Roll the dice and remove checkers from the corresponding points. The first player to bear off all their checkers wins the game.
The Doubling Cube
The doubling cube adds a layer of strategy unique to backgammon. Before rolling, a player can offer to double the stakes. The opponent must then choose to accept (take) the double and continue playing for higher stakes, or decline (pass) and forfeit the game at the current stake.
